Only blenders have the privilege of knowing the taste of the whisky straight from the cask, at the stage when it is a concentrate of nature’s vitality, marrying layers of maturity and depth. From The Barrel, bottled at 51.4% ABV, owes its existence to the blenders’ desire to share the joy of that natural intensity.
A Natural Harmonization.
We carefully blend many batches of matured whiskies and return them to casks for a few months. This ‘marriage’ technique allows different batches to deepen together as one, producing a mellow harmony on the palate while retaining a potent, high-alcohol whisky aroma on the nose.
A Small Block
This small, square bottle represents a compressed and concentrated whisky, visually evoking its full-bodied character and cask-strength intensity. The design concept was ‘A Small Block’. More than forty years since its debut, the distinctive design of From The Barrel continues to embody timeless individuality.

Aroma And Richness
From The Barrel is a meticulous blend of over a hundred malt and grain whiskies, primarily malt whiskies from Nikka’s two distilleries in Japan and signature Coffey grain whiskies.Married to create a whisky that is both rich and mellow, it reveals—after a brief pause—an elegant aroma and deep complexity, with a pleasantly stimulating kick.
