Nikka Whisky's history began in 1934 with the establishment of "Dai Nippon Kaju Co., Ltd." in Yoichi, Hokkaido.
Within the Asahi Group, Nikka is responsible for marketing for both domestic and international markets, overseas business development, and supporting domestic business.

Our company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, known as "Massan", driven by the his desire "I want Japanese people to drink authentic whisky". Since then, under the principles of "Pioneer Spirit" and "Quality First," we have passionately pursued the craft of whisky and spirit production.

We remain dedicated to carrying forward this founding spirit, aiming to create delicious and unique products as well as sharing the profound story of Nikka worldwide.

Established as a second distillery in 1969, Miyagikyo is surrounded by northern nature in lush forest with two pure streams. Along with Miyagikyo Single Malt, malt and grain whiskies are made using the traditional Coffey stills.
