Jessie Roberta Cowan, nicknamed RITA, was born in the suburbs of Glasgow, Scotland. She met Masataka Taketsuru, who had come to Scotland to study whisky-making. RITA told him, “I want to aside and live your dream together” and the two got married and returned to Japan together in the autumn of 1920.

Spending time in Japan, RITA loved her family, employees, and Yoichi throughout her lifetime and admired by people around her, while overcoming various hardships and holding the longing for her hometown in her heart. She also actively learned Japanese cuisine and entertained everyone with her cooking.
